The characteristic architectural features of a cathedral are, among others, the three-naves plan and an east choir with the main altar and the monumental painting of patron saint.
In the cathedral or in its vicinity may be usually found the so-called schatzkammer – treasury, where the most precious liturgical objects from its inventory are preserved.
In the past, during the most important christian holidays, the monarch, metropolitan or common clergy used to exhibit saints´ relics in the cathedral or in public spaces for the population to hold communion with them.
Nowadays the common guides of the most important christian holidays are mainly pilgrimages, where one can buy commemorative and devotional images, rosaries, statuettes of Virgin mary or crucifixes.
